note the large scales at the anterior margin of the long 4th abdominal segment. The purple body colour with more pale (yellowish) head suggest Willowsia buski. Given the small size, it is a juvenile.
W. buski is a typical domestic Collembola, often found in house but also behind bark on trees. The watersurface is not its usual habitat...
Hallo Frank,
thank you for your answer and Willowsia buski looks really very good!
Zitat
The watersurface is not its usual habitat...
A very thirsty specimen!
As size comparison to Sminthurides I attach still another picture also.
Best regards,
Frank

Hallo Frank,

I checked the second picture and decided my first ID was wrong...
The 4th abdominal segment is too long for Willowsia.
In Willowsia it is about 3-4 times the length of the 3rd. But in Lepidocyrtus it is 5-8 times the length of the 3rd.
It is Lepidocyrtus violaceus.
Sorry for the confusion caused.
To be 100% sure we need to check if the scales are present on the first 2 antennall segments. I cannot see that in the pictures. But the body colour fits!
BTW, the globular springtail is a dark colour form :
Sminthurides malmgreni forma nigriscens
A female specimen.
best thanks for the correction!
The presence of scales on the first 2 antennal segments is difficult to see.
Perhaps could these scales represent to dark round marks at the right 2nd Antennalsegment (left specimen in new pic)?
Attach new Picture with 2 difficult specimen - unscaled crop.
Best regards,
Frank
