vicina can be tricky at times and this is one of those tricky males. The basicosta is sometimes not wholly or even mostly yellow. The basicosta can be brown and even half dark brown almost black. The edge is never dark but sometimes brown depending upon the angle. In such cases, we can look at the anterior spiracle and the frontal vitta. The anterior spiracle is usally orange on vicina but sometimes yellowish or yellow-brown. The frontal vitta is as wide as each parafacial.

I see it as one of those tricky Calliphora vicina males. I hate it when i find these because i always think it is something different until i can get a closer look via macro photos.
