Zwei Calliphoridae-Männchen (Bellardia?) vom 06.+07.08.22 --> Bellardia viarum
Hallo zusammen,
beide aus unserem Innenhof und etwa 7-8 mm messend. Die auf dem Blatt habe ich zuerst für eine Pollenia gehalten, doch der Hinterleib zeigt einen leicht grünlichen Schimmer.
tip: some people misjudge the keys of Dr. Rognes and see the brassy drab olive color as being bronze. It is not bronzed.
the olive or green abdomen sometimes becomes brassy or metallic drab-olive (kind of yellowish-brownish-green, like a real olive). Much like Lucilia becomes reddish.
the aristal hairs are quite visible in your photos and not pubescent but the heavily infuscated lower calypter should be your clue.
I have indeed some problems with the colours. There are many similar Calliphorids on their wings these days. Some look greenish on one photo, but have a bluish glance on another . Also today I photographed a fly at a banana bait, which I thought was a small Calliphora. But on looking at the pictures on the PC, they seemed greenish... I will post some more photos (have shot >500 today, not only flies) the next days (must go to bed early tonight) and hope I do not hassle you with so many Calliphoridae questions.
I love Calliphoridae, so post anytime and as much as you like. I will work through your posts until i reach the end Sometimes, Calliphora can also have a greenish abdomen, so you could be correct with that genus. Collaboration is a good thing, so post when you have doubts.
